General

Any idea what "Tyche Special" is, or what it is close to so I can figure out the names of the colors? Any help is appreciated!

  I've been unable to find any information regarding "Tyche Special". I would suggest you buy a DMC color card with the actual samples. I've heard you can buy this card on DMC's website and may not be available through local retailers.

  Hi...Tyche Special yarn comes from a Chinese manufacturer, DMC yarn comes from France. The Tyche colors are based on the DMC color charts and number system. I have Tyche... bought it directly from China via the online market site Ali Express.
  I also have the DMC color chart, the one that was suggested to you...it’s a great resource
  I looked up the Tyche yarn yarn numbers and they pretty much match the DMC chart. But i don’t know if you could mix Tyche and DMC. I just bought the Tyche thread, haven’t used it yet...so can’t give very useful info. If you want to test if iTyche matches exactly, i’d take one of you skeins and check it against the same color from DMC...that would give you a good idea of what the differences might be. Go to top

    Hi Pat,..I received a kit for Christmas with the same thing. I found that some of the colors match DMC while most do not. I have substituted the "'Tyche" when I don't have DMC colors. I also purchase things from Ali Express (great site) and now have LOTS of the Tyche floss. I have noted on my bobbins with a dot or slashes if the floss is not DMC and also have them in separate containers. I also found that DMC is slightly shinier than the Tyche. Happy Stitching. Go to top
